Synopsis

Synopsis for One-Take Short Film

In order for the one-take film to be successful, the storyline needs to be clear to everyone within the group, enabling storyboards and scripts to then be made, which all come together to create a much clearer and stronger product.

Synopsis:

After Jess' brother, Sebastian escapes from an asylum, he seeks revenge from those who put him there. His family. This revenge involves the abduction and torture of his so called family, although little does he know, Jess wouldn't be home on the night of the abduction, leaving her to take matters into her own hands. By leaving a series of messages and clues for her to discover, Jess embarks on an emotional and torturous journey in order to find and save her family.

This then sets up an overall story for us to work on, when shooting our film which is only one scene from the full story. Knowing how the enigma began, allows us to justify why the characters are acting the way that they are in order to find a solution. Once the synopsis was written up, we were then able to work on the storyboards and scripts for the scene which we were filming.

However, when it came to filming, it proved to be very difficult as I was the only one in the group with a script and a storyboard so there was nothing for me to compare it to or work with, which would've been helpful when it came to improving the overall product. It also made it harder when it came to filming as I was the only one who knew what shot types we needed and what lines people had to say. This decreased the amount of time we had for actually shooting our piece as we spent more time practicing. It would be helpful if everyone had've brought their own storyboards and scripts as we could've worked more as a team in order to reach our desired targets, not just on one members vision.
